Playshion longboard is certainly grabbing some attention with all the positive reviews. Users are loving it.
This board interested me too. So I began to research to find out the main reason behind the hype. And honestly, after thorough research, I found the reason and I am impressed.In this Playshion Longboard review, I am going to share with you the findings of my research. Why it’s getting attention and if it deserves that or not.
Playshion Drop Through Longboard Skateboard Review
This longboard from Playshion is very popular due to the all-round well-balanced features. The reasonable price range is also something to consider.
Design
The first thing we notice when buying a product is how it looks. If something looks bad, it immediately creates a bad impression on us. Luckily, that’s not the case for this one.
The color combination and art selection of the graphics on the deck will immediately create a positive impression. After seeing it, you will want to know more about it. And, that’s definitely a good thing.
Deck
Now that you want to know more about it, let’s focus on the longboard skateboard deck. It comes with a 39’’ deck which is very close to the typical 41 or 42’’ longboard deck. The little bit small deck size will be in favor of the beginners. It will be easy to control.
The width of the deck is 9.1” so space is enough for comfortably standing on it. It is a drop-through deck which means it’s closer to the ground. It stays only 4’’ above the ground.
The less height will allow the riders to easily push and brake while riding. Another reason why it’s a good choice for beginners.
They used the mix of rock maple and bamboo to make the deck. 5 ply maple and 2 ply bamboo structure ensure the combination of sturdiness and flexibility. It can carry up to 250 lbs of weight.
Trucks
The use of good, powerful trucks is what makes a longboard more appealing. That’s what they did with this one. It comes with reverse kingpin trucks to make sliding easy with this board.
The longboard skateboard trucks are there to make your ride more comfortable by boosting up the responsiveness of the board. Going downhill or doing freestyle, this one will prove itself worthy of any challenge.
The 7’’ aluminum trucks will also provide stability for the riders. Cruising and carving will be very smooth in this. You can practice your slides over and over without worrying about shakiness.
Wheels
Now let’s focus on the speed. No matter how you ride, pair of wheels can decide how your ride is going to be. Is it going to be unstable in a bumpy road or is it going to adapt?
That mostly depends on the hardness of the wheels. For the case of this one, they used the SHR 78A wheels. It has an equal amount of hardness and softness. That combination allows a smooth ride with firm steering.
The dimension of the wheels is 70 x 50mm. Wide enough to handle speed racing and not cause any speed loss.
Bearings
Bearings will decide how fast you can go with your board. The faster it spins, the more speed you can gain. For a speed-loving rider, bearings are a matter of great concern.
This one comes with ABEC 9 bearings. The best bearing for high-speed racing with high precision. The tight tolerance of this bearing enables it to rotate faster than other bearings.
It will be quiet when you ride as it comes oiled. This bearing has a Nylon ball cages. Those cages reduce friction to avoid performance drop when the bearing rotates.
Color Options
More color is not that important when selecting a board but still I will point it out for those who love to choose among options.
This board comes with various color options. Each of them has unique graphics on the deck. If look matters to you, this one will come pretty handy for you.
The available color options are Bamboo 1, Bamboo 2, Coconut Tree, Line, Mango, Tiger, and Yellow Squares.
Bamboo 1 and 2 have the same deck structure. 5 ply maple and 2 ply bamboo. That’s why both of them are a little bit more flexible than the other.
The rest of the color option comes with an 8 ply maple deck. The other features are the same for all of them.
All of them also have the same price tag except the Tiger version. That one will cost a little less than the other.
Durability
According to my research, this board is very strong and durable. You can ride it without worrying about any unwanted faults in the body.
Is the Price Reasonable?
I will say, yes. The price range is very reasonable considering all the amazing features it has. There are a lot of boards available in this price range but you shouldn’t care about that.
That’s because you are already getting a great return for your investment with this one.
This One is Suitable For
Beginners. In my opinion, this one is a perfect package for beginners to start with. I am saying that because of its relatively smaller size and easy controlling advantage.
But it won’t be a bad choice for pro riders either. They will find comfort riding this and use it for sliding, cruising, downhill, freeride, or freestyling.
Should You Buy Playshion Longboard?
If you’re a beginner and looking for a complete longboard, then you should definitely try this one. I can assure you it won’t disappoint. It is also a good option for experts else except those who like dancing using boards. That’s because this one is not long enough for that.
Things You Should Keep in Mind Before Buying Skateboarding Longboards
You need to check grip tape, wheelbase, fiberglass, durometer, axle, balancing etc. Things you should have for safe riding are helmets, wrist guards, knee pads etc.
Also, check the skateboard types & usages like cruiser, penny longboard, pintail longboard, freeride longboard, all terrain, surfboard, snowboard, drop down etc.
