Magneto is a brand that transcends the close circles of avid longboard riders. Even if you are just buying your first board and are not aware of other brands, you have probably heard this name pop up in some conversation. And this rock-solid reputation is well-earned.

Magneto is a company known for its series of reliable, well-built, and trendy boards that are truly a joy to ride. The longboard I am going to cover here is no exception.

Truly, it is rare to find so many things working for some product and manufacturer making so few mistakes along the way. So, it shouldn't be that big of a surprise that I ultimately decided to put this longboard on my no. 1 spot of all best longboards on the market.

What makes it so special? Well, let's start with...

It's simple yet effective. Indy and eco-inspired but plays along with any style you might be preferring. And, on top of that, it works especially well for young urban girls. So, all-important requirements are met.

But, the looks make only a half of this success story. Let's move on to the materials.

This deck represents a very clever combination of two materials with very different properties. The core of the deck is made out of 44 inches long ply maple - a very stiff material that lends the longboard a lot of core strength and stability.

However, ply maple doesn't exactly go hand in hand with comfortable longboarding. That is why this core layer is sandwiched between two layers of soft bamboo that gives the cruiser some much-needed flexibility.

So, you essentially get the board that is stable but comfortable enough at the same time.

As for the rest of the board, all the remaining parts are well-maid and definitely do their job, but they are not something to write essays about. For instance, the longboard features high-quality gravity cast aluminum that's perfect for city cruising but is also, by now, an industry standard.

The same thing can be said about otherwise excellent soft urethane wheels - their novelty is kinda wearing off.

When it comes to brand recognition, Phoeros is not lagging too far behind Magneto. As a matter of fact, you can even say they are dominating some market segments. The reason I feel so is that, in my opinion, Magneto was always a bit more innovative.

And that brings me to the main gripe I have with this Phoeros Longboard Skateboard. This board goes all by the book when it comes to the contemporary longboard design. But, going by the book doesn't always need to be a good thing.

Design

When it comes to the style, Phoeros went all 80's summer vibe with this longboard. And that's great. For a start, 80s nostalgia is still running wild this year. And then, the vibrant pop colors we can find all across this board will definitely appeal to young girls who want to catch a couple of looks when they cruise around the city.

So, when it comes to looks, this longboard gets the job done in all regards.

But, Phoeros didn't score the points only in the visual department. When all is said and done, we are talking about one seriously well-made skateboard longboard. This time manufacturer decided to run all the way through with Canadian maple.

Yes, you are not getting only the maple core - you are getting as much as eight layers of genuine Canadian maple, which is pretty awesome, but it comes with a couple of asterisks. Namely, Canadian maple is hard as nails and offers great stability.

The rest of the components pretty much follow the same pattern. Phoeros longboard utilizes high-quality aluminum trucks that feature a built-in polyurethane dampening system that sets the longboard for pretty good maneuverability.

The wheels are rock-solid as well. They are made from high-quality polyurethane, do an excellent job of absorbing the small bumps on the road and provide more than a reasonable grip on all kinds of terrains.

All in all, the longboard will find many fans, but not everything is milk and honey.

Performance

Speaking in terms of performance, some beginners may find the deck too stiff. Sure, the aluminum trucks are doing an excellent job in improving the nimbleness of this skateboard, but even so, I like to see more softness and flexibility in the deck I'm standing on.

Still, this problem is somewhat counterbalanced by the excellent grip tape hat that covers the top of the deck and makes sure your feet are firmly in place even if you are cruising at high speeds over bumpy terrain.

Small tweaks like these go a long way in improving the comfort of the skateboard.

So, I must admit I had a pretty good time testing this board. The deck was a bit stiff for my tastes, and the materials felt a bit uninspired, but the overall impression was good. The control level is definitely a high point here, and I had no problem performing quick carving maneuvers any time.

Here is yet another longboard that is made primarily for a younger female audience which is always a great thing to see. Boys don't have to hall all the fun.

As a matter of fact, this longboard skateboard is so good looking I would point out its style as one of its biggest selling points. That should put a big smile on the face of all girls, no matter whether they are interested in street racing to street dancing.

So, the longboard definitely summons up a lot of goodwill even at first glance and separates it from similar brands.

Design

I spent a lot of time praising the looks of this longboard, but the secret of its success is pretty standard. The top of the board is covered with black matte grip tape that features bright white branding all over its surface.

The bottom represents the beautiful mashup of white and vibrant shades of pink, blue and purple - almost petal-like. This combination creates a beautiful contrast that simply invites the skaters to use the board for some kind of street performance.

But, don't be deceived by these gentle tones since Leeyoo 41 inch Longboard Skateboard is your standard ply maple wood affair (eight compressed layers) that is made for excellent durability and great stability at high speeds. And truly, with its 41 inches of length and support for up to 330 pounds of weight, you can easily mistake this board for some heavy-duty downhill unit.

Now, let's move to the trucks. Here, the things aren't bad either. The 7-inch aluminum alloy we have on display here is truly high quality, and I don't have any complaints in this regard. However, I would like to see some form of better shock absorption.

This way, it all comes down to 50mm anti-vibration polyurethane wheels and high-quality bearings that do an admirable job in making longboarding on this cruiser as comfortable as possible.

Performance

So, how all these components perform when we put them through some real-time testing?

Well, the first thing I would like to point out is that this is a very serious and competitive piece of hardware that doesn't exactly go hand in hand with its gentle and girly look. This longboard excels at high speed, and it takes a skilled driver to master this power. So, not quite for beginners.

This can be a bit of a problem, though, since no matter how well the PU wheels and reliable bearings take the hits when they are cruising down the streets, they are no replacement for some full-fledged shock-absorbing mechanism. This comes especially evident when the board is loaded with higher weight.

Keeping this in mind, I would say that the absence of kicktail and flat profile is, in this case, a slight drawback since the ability to cut sharp corners would help you get away from some tricky situations. Still, the wheels provide a strong grip when you skate in wet weather conditions.

All in all, this is a great board, but you need a bit of skill to ride it freestyle.

4. Volador 42-inch Freeride Longboard Complete Cruiser - Best Camber Deck Complete Longboard

At first glance, Volador 42-inch Freeride Longboard Complete Cruiser looks much like the previous two longboards I have just reviewed. But, believe me, there are a lot more things going on here. And I am not talking only about the very green, earthly, and definitely indy vibe the skateboard is drowned in.

If you take a closer look at the design of this neat 42 inches board, you will see many small quirks on display. But, that makes Volador one of the more interesting brands you can currently find on the market.

Design

So yeah, I have already mentioned that this 42 inches long longboard feels very indy and eco-friendly. You can blame green or pastel colors, you can blame the strange fish drawn all over the grip tape, but all this works extraordinarily well.

This impression is complemented by the fact that this longboard for girls is made from high-quality maple wood that is both naturalistic and capable of surviving any drop. Of course, these eight layers of 42 inches long maple wood provide excellent stability when you skate at a higher speed.

Now, what I find interesting about this design is that the longboard features both kicktail and slightly camber style, which is something we don't get to see every day.

All of the things I have mentioned above mean that this longboard is ideal for tight city cruising - at least on the paper.

The trucks and wheels are a bit more standard affair. For instance, the trucks are made from heavy-duty aluminum, which is a market standard. Still, they allow you to tilt the position between 50 and 45 degrees which is a nice addition and will help beginners find the ideal cruiser setup.

The wheels are durable 70 x 51 mm polyurethane and provide excellent grip even if you cruise the skate across the wet surface.

Performance

Now, I saved some things that technically belong to the "hardware" department for this section. But they have a strong impact on the performance so I would like to discuss them here.

First, the longboard features some very noticeable tilting. This can be very useful since it balances out the stiff deck. But, at a higher speed, this tilting can prove to be somewhat dangerous since it is hard to keep the balance. I would blame this on the truck.

No matter how much I tried to tighten them up, the problem of keeping the straight line during the freestyle ride was still present.

On the other hand, the bearings are all but loose. If the board is loaded with heavier weights pushing it forward can prove to be very exhausting on longer cruising.

But don't take these issues too seriously. If you are a girl of smaller stature and not exactly a speed demon, you will get quite a kick out of this longboard. True to its laid-back and earthly design, Volador 42-inch Freeride Longboard Complete Cruiser is a loveable companion for a smooth ride across the city.

5. INNOWEIGH 41 Inch Longboard Skateboard Through Freestyle - Best Affordable Drop Deck Complete Longboard

The previous board I have reviewed brought something new with its interesting camber deck design ideal for tight city carving. Although superficially very similar, this board sets out to do a completely opposite thing with its drop-down deck.

That's right, in the world of longboards for girls, this one allows you to run downhill as well as cut out your freestyle moves.

That's a pretty novel thing since if you take a look at other competitors on this list, not too many brands are trying to tackle these high demands.

Design

But, let us not get ahead of ourselves. Let's see how this longboard looks and what it's made from.

As for the first topic, I must admit that I really dig the purple space nebula and Zodiac themes going on here. Sure, they may not be everyone's cup of tea, but the overall impression is youthful and energetic, offers plenty of length, and that's everything the longboards like these need to have in store.

The materials are pretty good as well. The deck represents one 41-feet long piece of 8-layer pressed Northeastern maple wood, which lends the board with decent durability and allows for fast and sharp riding. But don't inflict too much damage on this one.

In spite of its all-terrain appeal, I would like to see the deck far stronger.

The drop-down profile naturally lends itself to downhill racing and demanding freestyle maneuvers. Hence, you get the best of both worlds - stability in situations that are far from the ideal city riding experience.

All the while, durable top mount grip tape does a near-perfect job in keeping your feet in place even if you are going through a rough ride.

The trucks are made from standard 7-inch aluminum alloy and do their job quite well. They don't wobble and provide solid support, so no complaints here. The same can be said for pretty stable polyurethane wheels that provide a good grip and absorb most of the bumps you will experience along the ride.

So, we are talking about a very complete longboard package that unfortunately suffers from small durability issues.

Performance

With that in mind, how does this longboard perform when you put it on a freeride or downhill trek. Well, the drop deck profile definitely has its effect on stability, while stiff maple properties enhance the board feel and allow girls a very smooth ride.

Although this is not quite the best longboard for extreme downhill stunts, I never felt like I'm losing control or suffering from the lack of flex. Even as it is, shock absorption works just fine, and drop-through design counterbalances some of the maple wood weaknesses.

With two feet firmly on the ground, you will be able to attain very solid speed and control even if the board is loaded with weight (the manufacturer claims it can carry 330 pounds of weight, to be more precise).

I would say the longboard is well-suited for beginner longboarding fans.

In the world of professional longboarding, Atom has a very powerful reputation. And you only need to take a quick look at the price of the board to see the brand is not kidding around.

People from Atom mean business, and they aim to corner the market of drop deck longboards. With this product, they might just be able to do that because when it comes to the longboards for girls, this one is pure class.

Design

So, although it has some pop-up orange elements, Atom Drop Deck Longboard immediately makes an impression it was made for mean girls. So, if you want to give your longboarding sessions a slight edge, you will hardly find a better board than this one.

Hidden beneath this matte black color and excellent top mount grip tape is the deck body made from full maple laminate, making the entire longboard one very tough and durable downhill rider.

It's too bad, though, that we don't have a couple of layers of bamboo to give the board some much-needed flex. But, then again the drop-through style is the main gimmick of this longboard.

And to be quite honest, although not as deep as we saw in the promo pictures, the drop in the deck feels like it handles beginner downhill rides as well as a couple of freestyle sessions.

The trucks and wheels seem on point too. The urethane wheels and associated bearings are durable, good-looking, and allow a lot of riding stability even when the longboard is loaded with weight. Reverse KingPin trucks are simply excellent. You will hardly find a better alternative in the beginner longboarding corner of the market.

A very complete package from a brand known for its quality.

Performance

But, the design of Atom Drop Deck Longboard has one weak point that cuts deep into the performance section of this review and ranks this board far lower in comparison with other downhill competitors than I would like.

Namely, the top mount grip tape of this longboard is not... Well, let's say grippy enough. When I'm tackling hard downhill treks, I like to have my feet firmly pressed against the deck. This time this wasn't the case, and believe me, I am putting a lot of weight on the board.

Smaller stature girls will have an even bigger problem with this lack of grip than I do. That is not something to brag about, considering we are talking about a longboard with such a hefty price tag and the product of such a famous brand.

But, as soon as we bring the longboarding into a more familiar beginner and cruising territory, we will get a much more complete experience.

So, if you want to get the most enjoyment out of this otherwise excellent longboard, set your expectations to moderate.

And for the last longboard of this roundup, I decided to make a full circle - both visually and material-wise. What's interesting to mention is that the Playshion is not that that well-known of a brand. At least not like some other companies I have covered on this list.

But, the product does so many things right it can easily stand toe to toe with some of the best longboards on the list.

Design

What makes it join this company of the best longboards? Well, for a start, the longboard looks quite nice, and much like the first board I have reviewed, it skips the visual gimmicks and preserves that clean wooden look I liked so much the first time.

Oh, of course, there are some visual features that help the board pop up more like, for instance, a beautiful owl engraved at the bottom of the deck and two black strips on the top side, but all these elements are very subdued.

You don't have something like top mount grip tape to ruin the naturalistic wooden vibe the longboard is going for.

So, what keeps your feet stuck to the deck then?

Well, for a change, this longboard is made from two layers of 39 inches long bamboo, which graces the deck with some unique properties. One of them is the gentle matte surface that has no problem keeping your legs in check even at a higher speed.

Also, the longboard is very light (at least compared to other longboards on this list), but it can also carry less weight. This time the board can be loaded with up to 250 pounds. That is ok if we remind ourselves we are talking about longboards for girls.

Furthermore, the material is very soft, which lends the longboard with enough flex for comfortable downhill riding. Of course, this comes at the expense of stability, so don't expect to squeeze some extraordinary speed out of the board.

The manufacturer made this even clearer by going for a drop-through deck profile, which strongly qualifies this longboard for comfort and smooth riding rather than sheer performance. So, if you have expected some cruiser with less flex you can use for tight carving, you should look for some other brands.

As for the rest, the longboard is not loaded with features, but it has plenty in store to make a beginner happy.

First of all, 70x51 mm PU wheels are combined with ABEC-9 bearings for a very smooth ride experience. And then, you have high-quality 7-inch aluminum trucks that make the longboard even more suitable for beginners.

So, design-wise, this is one of the more interesting longboards I have seen this year.

Performance

How does the longboard hold up performance-wise?

Well, I must admit that the overall ride feeling is marked with very high comfort and stability. The manufacturer went all-in with the bamboo material and drop-down decks, and it shows. Even when the girls are riding across some difficult terrain, the longboard will remain stable and provide complete comfort.

But, you need to be aware that the longboard is not made for higher speeds, let alone some tight carving experience. This becomes painfully obvious when we consider the bearings that keep the wheels in a very tight grip.

If you don't constantly push the board forward when riding, the bearings will bring each wheel to a halt even without breaking. This may prove to be too exhausting for beginners. And with its length of 39 inches, the board was obviously made with younger buyers in mind.
